- **What in the world is Gitcoin Passport?**
Why has there been so much hype about it throughout this #SybilFreeSummer?
Our amazing DevRel Lead Daniel Brunsdon explains 💬
- - -
Gitcoin Passport is a tool that helps identify real users from bots and other fake users online.
It lets people gather "stamps" for various online activities they do. Each activity's stamp has a different value.
These stamps add up to a score.
Apps and online programs can check this score to make sure they're interacting with real humans, not bots or duplicate accounts.

- `getting started` with #lens in 5 steps 🪴 [April 2023 update]
(0 a) maybe consider adding some information about yourself and a pfp to your profile before you start.
(0 b) "hello world" posts get quite some attention ... 😉 . (if you can post something related to what you are interested in ... 🎇 -> People you start following might take a look at your profile and follow if they are interested in the content you share.) Find one great example at the end of the post.
(1) https://lists.inlens.xyz/lists/818891525288558593 *updated* - list of great profiles to start your lens journey ... you will discover a ton, worth following profiles in the communities of people in this list. lists.inlens.xyz/ in general is a great starting point.
(2) find your twitter contacts on lens: inlens.xyz/ (not everyone with a lens profile, active on twitter, is very active on lens (yet ;-)). Maybe consider connecting with new people, sharing interesting content on lens.)
(3) probably you read this post on @lenster.lens . If you are interested in lens mobile apps, @orbapp.lens and @buttrfly.lens (iOS) are at the moment - imo - the most advanced general purpose lens mobile apps. One of the beautiful things regarding lens is that it doesn't matter which lens app you use, every lens app has access to the same content and social graph.
(4) what you share on lens is stored and publicly available for a very long time. Probably *forever*. You can hide posts, comments and mirrors. But that's a front-end feature, the data is still available and publicly accessible.
(5) "collects" are a very powerful concept, adding a NFT version of the post to your address (4th symbol below a post on @lenster.lens ). Collects can be monetised -> creators can use collect fees to earn money on lens.
one more thing :-) being active, commenting on posts and topics you are interested in goes a long way. Of course there is a chance that your posts will be discovered, commented and mirrored, but you increase the probability of being discovered dramatically with valuable comments.
@jeanmi.lens increased his followers +5k within 39 days. How he did it? "**be yourself, try to engage with people**, sharing images seems to accelerate engagement/growth, people love to 'GM'"

- Binance's BNB token and bitcoin (BTC) plunged Monday as a rumor spread that the crypto exchange's CEO faced an international law enforcement request to detain him.
Turns out, the catalyst for all this was an encrypted message contained in a tweet that was apparently not meant for the public's eyes – at least not yet – and that might've just been a wild guess.
"Interpol Red Notice for CZ," read the tweet from @cobie, who is well-followed by the crypto community. Not only is that account private, the text of the message was actually a garble of letters and numbers. It had been encrypted using the SHA-256 hash function, the same cryptography that secures many cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin.
But somebody figured out how to crack the post, and word spread. With Binance and its CEO, Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, having just been sued by U.S. regulators for "willful evasion" of U.S. laws, the idea that CZ might face a criminal probe rang true to many – and prices reacted accordingly as the rumor spread quickly. Binance's exchange token and bitcoin rapidly dropped.
Spokespeople for Binance and Interpol didn't respond to a request for comment. On Twitter, Binance Chief Strategy OfficerPatrick Hillmann said, regarding the rumor, that, "One of two things is true: 1. It's bullsh-t 2. A law enforcement agent is illegally leaking elements of a case file." He added: "My bet is #1."
Later Monday, @cobie said via Twitter that they'd posted the encrypted tweet after hearing a rumor. Effectively, @cobie was creating a record of something that they could reveal later they knew in advance – provided it came true. (The person could also just quietly delete the tweet and nobody would be the wiser that it was wrong.)
"The point of a hash commitment scheme is nobody is supposed to be able to read them until after the secret is revealed," @cobie tweeted. "Looks like someone I discussed the rumour with (handful of possible ppl) leaked the seed to 'create a stir' at my expense, removing the context of rumor, etc."
@cobie added: "Anyway, it was not supposed to be readable ever unless I revealed it, so sorry about that. Will once again narrow down the list of ppl I can trust. Since tweeting only leads to bad things instead of good things I will probably do much less in the future."
