Simple rules for a civilized society.
- If everyone around you often says "we live in a thoroughly X-ist society, it's horrible, and we need to switch to Y which is a refreshing new alternative", consider that you might actually be living in a thoroughly Y-ist society.

- Privacy is normal.
Railgun uses the privacy pools protocol ( https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4563364 ) which makes it much harder for bad actors to join the pool without compromising users' privacy.

- Excellent work by Toni Wahrstätter, replicating and expanding on my analysis last month on cross-validator correlations and adjusting validator incentives to favor decentralization:

- This (extremely off-putting) answer reveals a key thing that's beautiful about markets:
They let people express the strength of their preferences without needing to always justify their values in front of a committee.

- Re-upping my post from 1.5 years ago on "layer 3s":
https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2022/09/17/layer_3.html
The summary is that layer 3s don't magically improve throughput even more, though they can reduce some fixed costs of batch publishing and deposits/withdrawals.

- The only "crypto villain from a previous era" who deserves a path to redemption is Mark Karpeles @MagicalTux - precisely because he's the only one who's not clamoring for attention asking for one. He's just quietly doing interesting stuff.
Compare his twitter with a weaker soul:
- Ethereum has blobs. Where do we go from here?
https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/03/28/blobs.html
- This is a post made with https://firefly.mask.social/, which posts to farcaster and lens at the same time.
Alternative clients are important, we should support them!
- Reminder: the "blobs get deleted after 18 days" thing is super overrated.
- Are validators in the same cluster (eg same exchange, same user) more likely than unrelated validators to miss attestations at the same time? If so, can we tweak rewards to favor decentralized staking?
Possibly yes.

"the core idea of the proposal is to allow users to publish a zero-knowledge proof, demonstrating that their funds (do not) originate from known (un-)lawful sources, without publicly revealing their entire transaction transaction graph."
- I feel bad for the people of Kherson. They're basically suffering three waves of different kinds of horribleness: 8 month occupation -> 7 months constant shelling (or more occupation on the east bank) -> now getting flooded. Hope that once the floods are gone they will get an opportunity to rebuild.
- Is there a good equivalent to https://www.movetodon.org/ (tool to easily auto-follow on lens as many people as possible whom you already follow on twitter) for lens?
- Big congrats to 🇦🇷🇦🇷 for the win!
- The issue with Elon's latest actions is that this time, they are not partisan thoughtcrimes that primarily deeply offend wokes or anything like that. Rather, they go against cross-tribal principles that are a commonly understood bedrock of fair competition. This crosses a new line.

- My new socials page:

I'm eagerly trying out Mastodon, Farcaster, Lens and others, and I'll bow to Lord Elon and pay his $8/month too... but only when it's available on a non-iOS platform.
