A week ago today we hosted our Digital Fashion Showcase of VERTICAL RESIDENCY and @lens/pronounceddrop at NEW CODES event at the Royal Institution in London The works of our residents were showcased in one of the most historic buildings in London, and showcased some of the works in holographic projections powered by MAD GLOBAL. 23 final works from our exceptional residents, synthesizing their 8 weeks of intensive training. Among the many benefits of the Residency, my favorite's probably been finding people and ways to merge my too-digital creations with material mediums. Excited to share a behind-the-scenes WIP of my final project for the VERTICAL x DRAUP Digital Fashion Showcase! I used MidJourney as a starting point for my project, generating images based on conceptual visuals I imagined for visual reference in my design process. The elaborate silhouettes that make up Nigerian fashion and classic and timeless elements from Western fashion come together to create this look. Each detail tells a tale of the cultures it is inspired by. A dance, a story, youth, love. Like a flower patiently waiting, ready to bloom…
Where Gen Art and Digital Fashion collide… Bringing the puzzle pieces together from our two months together has been challenging but exciting. Using my new found love for GenArt that is still very much like a two-year-olds finger painting as a light source, I added an underwater like feel to my 3D digital fashion piece. Hey everyone 🫵🏼🫠 After a rollercoaster of a journey with the 7th Cohort at @verticalcrypto.lens x @pronounceddrop.lens here I am presenting you: the #C2W VRM collection! Over 6+1 weeks, every day was a new adventure - playing around with garments, bodies, textures, and lots of new tricks and treats. All to dig deeper into the concept of what an Avatar can really be. The result? I don’t know, to be honest, it is such a new area to explore for us.🧸 So, what's C2W? "Click-2-Wear", is an experimental take on fashion in the virtual world, consisting of 16 unique avatars ready to mint for 0.08 eth, only if you attend the event. 🥻🩸 On the 30th, during our Final Exhibition in London, 100 tickets for metaverse fashion runway will be on sale, only for a day. The artwork used in the ticket hints at the concept, but it’s more than that, believe me. That might be your best metaverse experience ever, in 10 minutes in total. Each ticket comes with a free C2W Avatar! So when you grab your ticket, you get a cool avatar to go with it. “The Viewer”. When the ticket sale is complete, all the ticket owners will be able to get into the token-gated zone where the magic happens. And it’s all happening on 7th October at Hyperfy and Mona. My commitment to sustainability was reinforced during a research trip to landfills in Ghana. While at the Royal College of Art doing a masters in footwear, I developed an innovative concept centred on waste dictating design. My goal is to create purposeful fashion items with minimal reliance on new materials or, in some cases, using digital counterparts instead. Presently, I am deeply engaged in exploring the demodulation of footwear and accessories, employing data analysis to understand consumer behaviour. I also harness immersive technologies and AI for digital designs and prototyping. My artistic inspiration stems from the heroic narrative of Yaa Asantewaa, an 18th-century Ghanaian warrior who resisted colonialism. I channel her spirit into combating waste colonialism. My core philosophy revolves around beautifying waste, transforming it into coveted commodities. My proficiency in immersive technologies, AI, and world-building empowers me to push the boundaries for a more sustainable fashion future.

Hello Lens community! 🔮 My name is Victoria, and I am a multidisciplinary fashion designer creating work at the intersection of science, technology, art and design. This piece is from my collection ‘Children of CRISPR’, which was inspired by CRISPR/Cas9, a gene-editing technology that has the ability to precisely edit in and out segments of DNA 🧬 Perceived before as a feat only feasible within an unrealistic sci-fi narrative, it has now become a viable reality. And although this revolutionary tool has the potential to save many lives through treatments such as gene therapeutics, many have raised ethical concerns over its possible misuse and are fearful of bringing about a world where opportunities are dictated by the quality of your ‘genes’. Work-In-Progress Collectible Up until around 2006, Goyard hand painted their patterns on the Goyardine canvas. Although this pattern is equally as good, or better, now with machine printing - we find value in hand made things. Does this apply to code as well? In this work-in-progress, I am exploring the value of hand-coded digital fashion. This could be made in AI, and this could be coded with AI. But it isn't.
