Eliminating the buzz words - How to ACTUALLY grow your wallet balance through trading
Maybe you're someone who's battling to grow your wallet, maybe you're taking too many losses, or you might even be a noob who's just joined the best place for financial literacy and need some advice on flipping NFTs!
This space is full of "buzz words" and confusion when it comes to trading, so lets address that and see how we can ACTUALLY improve!
1. Taking profits aggressively
This is one of the most common phrases that people don't really understand how to implement it! What does it mean to take profits aggressively? Well, lets paint a clearer picture - Maybe you have low liquid and you've just made a really good trade! Congrats! But you're still holding, thinking it will go higher? Next thing it dumps, and you end up making a loss. This is one of the most common ways to lose all your ETH and burn your account. How do you know when to take profit? Normally, I recommend the rule of 20% - 25% - That means, when you're in 20% - 25% profit from when you bought, consider selling! Think about this - If you put your money in a savings account at a commercial bank, you might get 1% interest on it a year. With stocks, you might get anywhere from 6% in a good year. So why would you not take this INSANE profit on an NFT trade?! 25% is HUGE ROI, so don't get greedy. There are those few trades where you can make way more than 25%, but these happen because of many factors, particularly market conditions - That's why in poorer market conditions, these are less common.
2. Sticking to conviction plays in the beginning
I get DMs all the time from people asking for advice because they've been losing a lot of money. The first question I ask is if they have been doing degen trades. 9/10 times the answer is yes, and 10/10 times that's the main issue!Degen trades carry much more risk and are an easy way to blow your account, rather stick to conviction trades in the beginning.
MYTH : You need a lot of liquid to do conviction trades
There are tons of projects that have low budgets but with high conviction, all you have to do is RESEARCH. Find a project that looks really promising and has backing for its success. Keep stacking up ETH with these plays until you have a comfortable balance.
3. Avoid trading too much
If you're the type of person who trades every single day, ten times a day and are losing a lot of money, tone down on over investing. Think about this - The chances of a trade going well is a 50/50 chance, theoretically. Now, every time you make a trade, you increase the chances of making a bad trade even further.
Rather stick to one or two really good plays for the day, or, consider only trading a couple times a week! Some of the callers I work with choose one project to trade for the week that has really good conviction and end up making huge gains! These are the same people that bought Renga, Valhalla and Checks early.
Stick to quality over quantity.
4. "Managing your emotions"
I often hear this and cringe. It's one of those things that traditional traders have brought into NFTs, a buzz word.
The biggest idea when it comes to handling emotions is discipline. Discipline yourself to control fear, hope and greed. If you are fearful before entering a trade, don't enter. It's that simple. The last thing you want is an emotional trade that you get burnt on. Don't have too much hopium and greed either. Take those aggressive profits and don't dream of your favorite NFTs pumping to prices you can't even imagine.
One other idea to understand is everything I've mentioned here is related. For example, managing emotions such as greed also relates to taking aggressive profits, which that could lead to timing the tops of a chart!
Once you master a particular skill, it becomes easier to understand the rest as you constantly build knowledge and "connect the dots".
5. You might not be a bad trader, it might just be a few trades that are ruining your performance!
Take a step back, make a spreadsheet of your recent trades, and look at your biggest losses vs your biggest wins. Often times, if you didn't make such a big loss, you would be in profit at the end of the month!
Analyse those bad trades and identify where you went wrong or what not to do next time. This way, you can improve as a trader and not make the same mistakes over and over again.
6. Be your own alpha and stop trusting your favorite callers with 100% of your money
There's only one person I trust when it comes to my ETH - Me. When I first began trading, I was listening to all my favorite callers and ended up making losses on some trades I thought would do well. After that, I became a caller and only fully trusted myself with flipping NFTs.
Even the best of the best make mistakes, it's normal. If you don't feel something is right with a trade, don't buy it.
There's a reason why we say be your own alpha because that's the best alpha there is!
