- GM I've never been anywhere on earth that offers so many immersive spaces which make you feel. I've also never been so rebellious to the "rules" of photo. 1y in the NFT space has proven there is 0 respect for photography as an art & is only getting worse w AI / all this "post-photography" nonsense 🤮 Other art is sans rules so I'm done trying to produce the perfect crispy piece when the definition is someone else’s anyways.

The main thing to understand is that you need to take pictures quickly, because the light changes literally before your eyes. Frames taken with a difference of 5 minutes will look completely different.
- Another frame within a frame moment , this time from the Flightdeck.
Kodak Portra 800 / Hasselblad 501C / Somewhere north of L.A.
I've always struggled with framing 6x6 shots. This doesn't takeaway from the joy I get from shooting my Hasselblad, but I often find the results to be suboptimal as I don't have an eye for the square composition. Nonetheless I'm quite happy with this one.

- Surfer prepping for the waves by the bridge in San Francisco shot on 120 film with my Pentax 67 and Kodak Portra 400. During my week long trip there last March I shot 30 rolls of film and most of my favorite images of 2022. Excited to share them with you here!

In my bio I explain that I get to travel for free. Well, the clue to how is in my Lens handle 😀✈️
I'm truly blessed to have the opportunity to visit so many places and to have a job that is also a hobby. I'm always sure to bring a camera along with me on my trips. This photo was taken a few years ago on a flight from Dubai to London when I was shooting mostly digital photography. I'll be sharing a few aviation themed things on here from time to time as well.
Let me know if you want more airplane content...

In 2020 when I was confronted with a drastic slowdown in work, I was fortunate to have an outlet available in my photography. Nothing is quite as enjoyable as hiking with a camera and absorbing these sorts of sights. What creative outlet gives you pleasure?

This trip has been a clear reminder that I cannot live a life with (many) obligations. During these 10 days ripping around Hokkaido chasing powder (and visibility) to participate in the activity we’ve traveled across the globe for, making decisions to journey about different locations, taking gambles, not getting our way, sometimes scoring but sometimes not, it stresses me out thinking of a scenario where I have to plan further in advance than the morning of or day before. Just going with the flow. Seeing what’s around the bend. I’m living a life (and struggle) that most would be far too uncomfortable with, living paycheck to paycheck in a freelance world that seems to be diminishing. Constantly keeping fingers crossed for digital or physical art sales that come from not so often juiced up engagement on social media platforms to reach potential collectors. The only other option being application to a 40+ hour per week office job and sacrificing all of the experiences I’m immersing in? To be honest, I’d rather be perpetually broke (:

- So far the most enjoyable way to use Lens for me has to be with @orbapp.lens. Intuitive & pretty fast. It just works!
- gm! In the upcoming future, I'm fixin' to run first experiment with my own photographs. Might end up with a drop or two.
- View of the street through a fogged up window in Tokyo Station.

There is something to be said about exploring a city with a film camera. Without the instant satisfaction of seeing your photograph on the camera back, you instead get to relive the moment of the shot when you develop the film (sometimes weeks later). I am quite happy with how this "scene within a scene" turned out.
Any other film photography fanatics out there?

I wrote about this in my Nifty drop and it remains true - time spent at airports can provide immersion in fantastic spaces. Everyone is often in a rush, looking at their phones, not observant of their environment. If you do as little as just look up you may catch yourself traveling in the future. Or the past. But only if you're present.

I'm interested to know what your favourite camera is. Or multiple cameras if you're like me and can't choose just one!
Personally this has to be my favourite combo : my Leica M6 classic with a 28mm Elmarit Lens and my Leica M3 (from 1954) with a 50mm Summilux (when I want to take my time)

This trip within a trip was just a short flight from Tokyo to the north island of Hokkaido. Round trip = $107. Oversized baggage / weight fee one way? $110. Finding a cheap hotel with an ominous bird’s eye view of a strange solicitors street after cho oishi lamb bbq? Priceless.
