- Exploring Web3 Marketing's Next Big Thing: Mass Wallet-to-Wallet Communication
I had the pleasure of sitting down for an intimate conversation with Shane Mac recently, the Co-Founder and CEO of XMTP.
For the next 40 minutes enjoy learning about:
◉ Shane's previous $50 million acquisition by BlackBerry
◉ His early entrepreneurial days on eBay and teaching himself how to code
◉ XMTP's role in the web3 growth landscape
What struck me the most was hearing about the history of Internet messaging and why web3 is the perfect solution for building your final "contact" list.
The reason I was keen to have this discussion with Shane was to better understand web3 growth networks and the future of Internet marketing.
It became clear: at the foundation of it all is communication. It’s what keeps projects moving, growing, and connecting.
And on the topic of connections, XMTP's recent partnership with Coinbase Wallet has been creating quite the buzz, especially at @bellosights.lens. 🍄
We've integrated XMTP, which means we’ve opened up a new way for our users to engage. Imagine being able to send mass messages to your NFT collectors, let alone *any* group of wallets.
It's a game-changer.
I genuinely believe XMTP is taking steps that will bring us closer to widespread web3 adoption.
And having the opportunity to share this conversation with you all feels special.
Enjoy.
- From the moment we launched Bello, the feedback was consistent:
"Incredible insights! But how do I directly engage with these wallets?"
We heard you. Loud and clear.
Introducing Mass Messaging on Bello powered by @xmtplabs.lens.
Planning your first music NFT drop and want to contact a particular group of wallets interested in onchain music? Find them on Bello and send them a message.
Say thanks to those who've collected every NFT? No prob.
Releasing a new feature and want to tell your users? Done.
Communication forms the bedrock of any community or company.
From @lensprotocol followers to those connecting their wallets on your site, IYK swag collectors, and @poapxyz.lens enthusiasts, web3 audiences are scattered and traditional channels aren't enough.
Bello solves this.
With Mass Messages, onchain insights meet the inbox.
We ensure your voice doesn't just echo—it converses, connects, and cultivates a thriving community.
Now you can target and segment wallets using Bello's insights and broadcast messages to wallets if they have XMTP enabled.
How does it work?
We've upgraded "Actions" to include a new CTA: Message.
Upon clicking, you'll be prompted to sign to unlock the floodgates of crafting your first message.
With mass messaging comes great responsibility.
Spam is no joke - it's why we're empowering wallet owners with choice in every message.
V1 of Messages includes opt-out links for those who do not want to receive further communications from certain senders.
Mass messaging is the right next step and we couldn't be more excited to roll this out to vetted enterprise customers.
If you want to give this a spin for yourself, DM us or join the waitlist below: https://bello.lol/join

- someone needs to create the https://pod.link/ for lens.
problem is if i want to share posts with other users, if they don’t already have a lens-native app downloaded, then they can’t see the post.
would be great if there was a general landing page with different mobile and web app destinations where the end user can chose where they view the content.
better yet, just engage with it directly on the landing page just like pod link makes it possible to listen directly there.
would use 10/10. great product for a newsletter to backlink to a post.
- Why The Web3 Creator Economy Needs Base Protocol ft. @jessepollak.lens
I just published Base Protocol's first-ever podcast episode onchain.
Couldn't think of a better episode to debut than today's ft. @jessepollak.lens highlighting his vision for supporting the web3 creator economy.
Everyone on Lens can listen, but only a few can own.

For over two years, I've pursued life as a full-time web3 creator.
Publishing 400+ short and long-form episodes, I've welcomed multiple chains across 7 seasons.
From releasing Seasonal Pins and Podcast NFTs across Gnosis, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, and BNB – it's now time to explore Base.
Set within the Onchain Summer Studio, it features Jesse's CryptoPunk and my Lil Noun in dialogue.
And for the art - you might recognize my rendered drumset and my childhood WWE belt, mirroring my YouTube background.
The artwork blends intricate details for objects I love most and consider home.
The episode is available to listen to and collect in less than 1 hour (11 AM EST) but only for 72 hours.
323 existing Mint Podcast NFT collectors get to mint 1 episode for free while new collectors enjoy for only 0.000777e.
Happy minting!

- 16 years ago today the original iPhone was released. Difficult to get and hyped beyond belief, I finally got mine on day three. It was probably more polarizing a device than you think...
My first 2 days with it felt incredibly empowering. AT&T was a nightmare--the phone would not activate all weekend. Their stench of empire was still lingering. Despite being house-bound it was hard to miss that Safari in my hand (powered by wifi) made me feel like a revolutionary. I suddenly had infinite access to infinite information (Google). Most telephone companies saw this phone as a threat. I saw it as a fight consumers were about to win handily.
Maps in my hand meant freedom. I could never get lost again. I felt this change so deeply I booked a trip to Shanghai, a city I knew absolutely nothing about, soon after.
And that was pretty much all it took for me to "get it."
No App store.
5-8 hours of battery life.
Horrible camera quality.
No video recording.
No iCloud.
Gmail was pretty much the only "cloud" product, but that was just email.
And you had to plug it into a computer to sync media, backup, and update software. Yet here we are today, where it's assumed everyone has a device in this form factor with access to the cloud at all times.
You can't get lost.
You can always find a ride.
You can always find shelter.
You can always find ______
Are you not entertained?
It's been a fun ride.
I hope one day I'll be able to add the Vision Pro to this reflection…
- Gm ☕️ to everyone around the world celebrating this 4th of July weekend🗽🤠
- Public databases don’t put limits.
- Formula One’s influence in the U.S. is growing…
NASCAR, famous for racing in an oval with only left turns, just created a street race mimicking F1.
- Been sitting on a piece I’ve written about federated servers and centralized databases in social media. Perhaps I’ll make it my first post in Bluesky 🤔
I avoided signing up all this time because I don’t want a Twitter clone, I want the limitless possibilities of Lens. But more knowledge is always better, and if Bluesky becomes useful in my life at some point then it’s only upside.
My guess today, only having just signed up, is that most of my interactions with it will be via AI assistants who don’t care where the data comes from. Lens/Mastodon/Bluesky users will almost certainly interact with each other via AI protocols.
Anyway, I’m on it to understand the tech. If you’re there feel free to follow. Big thanks to @evanmann.lens for hooking me up 🙏
- Gm ☕️ to everyone exploring new hobbies.
- Why do we collect social media posts here?
What good does having photos from @chaoticmonk.lens and @grams.lens in my wallet do me? Why on Earth would you collect a @chriscomrie.lens podcast or a monthly guide to Lens by @punkess.lens ??
Patronage? Show of support?
Okay, but we can do better. A wallet is like a personal cloud service, it’s a locker for your files. There’s (effectively) not much difference between an iCloud/Dropbox account and an Ethereum wallet.
We can create apps that store and retrieve data in a wallet. We can also leverage AI to use your collected data when generating new data.
I collect social media posts because at some point I’m going to be writing a post or making a video and AI will be able to show what my influences were and how those ideas were probably introduced to me. I’ll be able to list my influences and cite my sources.
I imagine in 2033 I’m going to be writing about the early days of Lens, the glorious beta years, and I’ll be able to talk to my ChatGPT assistant which is trained on my collected data, including Alice’s writings. It will be able to reference her guide and Chris’ podcast, answer my specific questions for things I don’t quite remember, and I’ll be able to generate a new photo in the style of @arterlioz.lens
The last era of social media gave everyone Followers. The next era will give everyone Supporters and Users.
Collect this to become a future User of mine 🙃
- Have you checked this out #Lens fam??
- Gm ☕️ to everyone who’s been out of work for 2+ months with many more to go 😂 I’m about to surpass the number of hobbies I picked up in all of 2020.
Bonsai has always been something I wanted to try, ever since I was a kid, but it always seemed intimidating. Turns out there’s nothing to be scared of (as usual). It’s very few moves over long periods of time. Exactly my kind of hobby.
Anyone else have experience with this?
- Divine Recursions - Overcoming The Insurmountable With AI
Earlier this year I sat down with documentary filmmakers Tanay Gokhale and Zhiwei Fang to share how working collaboratively with AI changed my life after struggling with a rare form of a degenerative neurological disorder called CMT. This is a portion of that conversation from their upcoming documentary, produced in partnership with UCBerkeley.
The “Divine Recursions” self portrait series I discussed here was a huge turning point for me; collaborating so personally with AI changed my perspective of myself and my abilities in a way that I didn’t think was possible. I’m honored to have works from this series included in my solo exhibition at bitforms Gallery NYC, “In The Screen I Am Everything”: https://bitforms.art/exhibition/ellie-pritts-in-the-screen-i-am-everything/

- Spent most of the last week trying to write a custom Lens app, hosted on Replit. Struggled real hard.
Decided to start over today and host it locally on my MacBook. Turns out Replit was the cause of all my issues.
Tutorials by @nader.lens and @lukecd.lens got me almost 100% there in just a few hours 🙏
Taking a break for two days, can’t wait to hear about v2 tomorrow. 👀✌️
- One of the benefits to end users of @lensprotocol is full data portability. Your posts are portable across the ecosystem of Lens’s applications. However, for developers, this is not always ideal. #Lens
It’s not that we don’t want users to own their data, it’s more that we want to build a custom experience for posts made from our app.
When working with Lens, you segment posts using an app id.
This is made especially easy when you work with the React hooks. Start by setting an app id in your App.js file when you configure Lens.
Then when you read data using hooks like useFeed(), the results automatically filter out posts not made with your app id.
I dig into this in much more detail in @bundlr-network.lens latest Developer Quest, OnlyBundlr. Dive in today.
