In stories 032 https://lenster.xyz/posts/0xd3a4-0xa8 and 052 https://lenster.xyz/posts/0xd3a4-0x0208 I have talked about a trip accompanying a group of Italian students and visiting some Argentinian cities. Today's post is another fragment of that trip.
One of the days in Buenos Aires we visited the Recoleta Cemetery, the Faculty of Law and the sculpture by Eduardo Catalano called "Floralis Genérica". This immense metal sculpture of more than 20 m high represents, as its name suggests, a flower 😅.
The Floralis was built in the aircraft factory of Cordoba (where I worked from 5 years). The double curvature of the petals was designed in the same way as the wing profiles are made. But the magic happens thanks to an automatic mechanism that makes the flower to open during the day and to close at night.
I say magic in a figurative sense, because the legend says that the mechanism worked for the inauguration day, and then very few people saw it actually working... I couldn't demystify the legend on my own, that's a disadvantage of not living in Buenos Aires...
Today's drawing was done on the super-well-cut and neat lawn of the park where the flower is. And guess what I had with me while painting the sculpture... yes dear reader, the same jar of anchovies I had on my first trip to Europe in 2011.... https://lenster.xyz/posts/0xd3a4-0x0131
