I’ve been playing with my collected art all morning. It’s been -the- missing experience here on Lens, and within the span of a few days we’ve been given not one but two fantastic gallery options: @collectz.lens and Gallery.so Music has done well over the past few months specifically because there are apps to use that music. You can play with your collection, brag about it, share it, etc. Meanwhile, our visual art collections have largely disappeared from memory once they leave the feed. Out of sight, out of mind— dormant data. This is yet another example of what I mean by “Collects as App Data.” Data is only valuable if it’s used. Collectz and Gallery are apps which let me use my Collects. 🙏 So what’s next? How can we let Galleries use and create more data? Well here’s one possibility: Attached are two images of a Gallery I just made with my H=N/Tezos collection (be very jealous if you missed out on hic et nunc, it was a special place and time). Imagine you could recommend the perfect piece to complete my collection. You could send/sell/suggest a piece and get credit (maybe even a reward like a Finder’s Fee). Now imagine AI reads the visual input of all of this, and reads the blockchain to understand the art, artist, and social data surrounding this art and is able to connect me with the perfect piece. Or it lets me generate a new piece based on the surrounding pieces, and gives proper accreditation and payment. That would be an app which uses my Collects to help me find or create new Collects. That would be an app running on a Social Operating System.

we will be doing a database migration moving to aurora to allow our pings worldwide to be faster, general speed up of all queries, having many read databases with auto-scale, alongside having read and write separate databases for memory reasons. This will mean on 08:15AM GMT Thursday 22nd December write actions will be down for 20 minutes. - indexer will not index any new publications, profiles etc - reactions and other parts will not be able to be actioned once the migration is complete the indexer will catch up with anything it missed of course anything on-chain will still go on-chain but not be shown in the API if done in that period until it is back. Reads will continue working as normal throughout the migration process. Happy building all!

Even those who worked in government institutions and supported the previous government either left or got dismissed. Some of our guides were among them. Seeking a decent life, they turned to new professions. We are a large group, and we must never move alone. When traveling to such countries, a question always arises: Who benefits from tourist money? The government or ordinary people? Likely, both. But for the locals, it's not just about the money; having tourists around brings more than financial benefits. Many see a foreigner for the first time, have conversations, and get a glimpse that there's another world out there. I hope that more tourists coming to Afghanistan will make life easier for its residents. It's evident they love tourists, and when asked why, they say you give us hope for a better tomorrow. Inevitably, even the Taliban (distinct from other Afghans) want to send a positive image to the world. Wherever we went after Kabul and asked for permits to move around, a journalist team magically appeared. The same questions over and over: Do you feel safe? What's your message to our government and the world? You can imagine we had to swallow certain statements. And as if our words were more valuable than money, we paid them for permits. After the interview, they handed us signed papers. And when, in the midst of the interview, they fired a Kalashnikov saying, "Just for fun, you know what is fun?" No one seemed to react… (based on a true event) Besides the first gunshot from the Kalashnikov, the people making mosaics inside the Grand Mosque in Herat will stay deeply in my memories. With skillful hands, they create beautiful shapes from stones. As a token of appreciation for our visit, we all received a piece to keep as a memento. When we asked the master how much it all costs and how much he can earn… His answer was, "We don't do it for money, but to preserve the tradition." Of course, we couldn't accept that as an answer, so we voluntarily paid for new souvenirs. What’s new on Lens v2? Open Actions: you will be able to execute external contracts directly from a Lens post, like minting an NFT, buying an NFT ticket, ape’ng into DeFi pools, etc Open Namespaces: the handle is separated from the profile itself, so you could swap the handle while you still have the same profile. ERC-6551 Profiles: have you ever tried to transfer your profile to a new wallet? It used to be quite hard cos it’s so many NFTs to transfer all your followings, collects, etc. On v2 now the profile itself owns all the assets so if you want to transfer your profile it’s just one simple transaction. New Follow Architecture: it’s no longer mandatory to mint follow NFTs, but you still can if you want to! Quote publications: this can now be done natively! Profile Manager: you can now let other addresses perform certain actions on your behalf, no need of key sharing to control organisation accounts! It can also be used as a security layer, you can now store your profile on a hardware wallet and enable a software wallet to post! On-chain block: you can now block profiles onchain! No more software based hides! Profile Guardian: a feature that protects you against phishing attacks where you have a cool-down period of 7 days in order to be able to transfer your profile!

(0 b) "hello world" posts get quite some attention ... 😉 . One of the beautiful things regarding lens is that it doesn't matter which lens app you use, every lens app has access to the same content and social graph. But that's a front-end feature, the data is still available and publicly accessible.
