- Gm, everyone⚡️⚡️
We've got a fun question for you today: What's your favourite movie:
**'The Matrix'** or **'Blade Runner'** - and why? 🎬
Both movies have left an indelible mark on the science fiction genre, offering us interesting visions of the future.
"The Matrix" introduced us to a futuristic world where reality is not what it seems, and the exploration of simulated existence and the human psyche had us questioning the nature of reality itself.
On the other hand, "Blade Runner" presented a dystopian future where artificial intelligence and human identity collide, sparking debates about ethics, technology, and what it truly means to be human.
So, which one resonates with you more? Drop your comments below!🍿🤖

- If you've seen @nader.lens or @yoginth.lens talking about algorithm choice recently you probably noticed they feature algorithms by @karma3labs.lens whose posts on mirror I just finished reading: https://mirror.xyz/0x6BE454113A58861A09Fc2A57940a344357B3859a
"The power of our infrastructure is eventually able to power personalization of NFT discovery for everyone based on their preferences, tastes, interests, and trusts of their respective social circles."
What they're building sounds really solid and solves for things I've recently brought up. I've seen some of their feeds already on @collectz.lens and will be really interested to see how devs here build when these problems of reputation and decisions around recommendations are handled by 3rd parties or communities.
It really struck me, in a tangible way now, that we should not just be promoting the established user base of Lens as a feature or reason to build here but also that devs have the ability to make good recommendations and decisions thanks to open algorithms. It's no longer theoretical, we can start pointing to @karma3labs.lens as a first example and hopefully encourage more.
Devs can focus on building their app without having to solve for:
• USERS
• REPUTATION
• ALGORITHMS

—— What makes Lens special? ——
1. It’s decentralized and composable.
All Lens data is stored on the Polygon blockchain. This means that no company has control of your data, only you do! No one can delete your profile, posts, or followers
Composable means that all of your data (followers, posts, etc) appear on every Lens website/app… it’s all shared!
If you switch to a new Lens website, your data is already there!
2. Posts can be collected
Every post can be “collected” a set number of times for a price set by its creator. When a post is collected, a “collect” is created. This is a copy of a post. Each post can have a limited amount of collects
Collects can be collected on most Lens platforms and can be bought, sold, and traded on LensPort
Collects function as the economy of Lens! They are a novel new mechanism for creators to earn and for collectors to feel social ownership

- Momoka, the new infrastructure powering @lensprotocol, just hit 500,000 transactions at a total cost of ~ $173
With these updates our infrastructure is now ~250x less expensive while being ~165x more scalable than in the past. 🤯
Momoka Stats
💰 Cost of 100,000 transactions:
Old infrastructure ~ $10,000.00
Momoka ~$40.00
Difference ~250,000% less expensive ⚡️
📈 Scalability of 100,000 transactions
Old infrastructure (~30 TPS) 55 minutes
Momoka (~50,000 TPS) 2 seconds
Difference ~ 165,000% more scalable ⚡️
Here’s how it works 🌫️
Blockchains today cannot scale to social TPS.
Traditional databases scale to up to millions of operations per second while most blockchains max out at a few hundred.
This is mainly because blockchain storage is an expensive bottleneck in terms of both cost and scalability.
Blockchain storage is more than just storage - it also enables composability, allowing your state to also be executed with other smart contracts and programs.
But with most social use cases, especially non-financial, that power and composability is not needed, so why would we continue to use it in this way?
For decentralized social applications, two of the main characteristics needed are permanent and immutable storage tied to a user’s identity.
What if those characteristics could be derived from another infrastructure layer, but at a much lower cost and with more scalability?
In the past, all Lens transactions were processed on the EVM via Polygon network.
What is the EVM at its root? It is a big state machine, holding the entire history of state changes of what has happened in what are known as archive nodes.
The expensive part of using EVM networks is performing these state updates.
BUT! The EVM only forces cost when you want to change the state in the next block.
The EVM does **not** charge anything to simulate if something could of happened on a certain block.
This means that you can leverage this to check that a transaction has been signed by the correct access control and would of passed for free *without any gas needed*.
When you do an EVM contract call, you are signing the transaction with your private key. The EVM verifies this and injects key helpers like msg.sender which is your public key to allow contracts to know it was you who did that.
Since transactions can be run for free to prove something has the correct access control conditions to run it, what if we swapped the storage updates to a place that can handle high TPS, cheap, immutable, one time payments and will be guaranteed for at least 100 years?
Momoka is an optimistic hybrid layer 3 solution from Lens Protocol that uses data availability storage on Arweave/Bundlr along with transaction proofs on Polygon to enable highly scalable and low-cost social graph data storage and verification. It allows proving social graph transactions would be valid on-chain without actually submitting them, enabling greater scalability while maintaining verifiability and user ownership.
Arweave is a decentralized blockchain-like infrastructure protocol, built specifically for storing data forever for a one off cost, and was launched over 6 years ago.
Bundlr Network is an Arweave scaling solution built to handle 50,000+ TPS. It functions similarly to a rollup in that it batches multiple transactions together and posts them to the underlying network.
An important characteristic of Bundlr is that it supports EVM addresses, allowing you to build EVM tech state on Arweave ⚡️. They also allow you to pay fees in any EVM native token you wish!
To enable this new functionality on Lens, Momoka introduces two new pieces of architecture - the Submitter and the Verifier.
Submitters are responsible for validating and constructing the metadata and submitting it to Arweave, providing proofs that anyone can contest.
The Verifier software listens for publications sent from whitelisted submitter addresses and verifies their validity.
Anyone can run a verifier using open-source software with a few commands.
https://github.com/lens-protocol/momoka
Momoka is not limited to blocks and max limits as the restriction has been removed due to storage on Bundlr/Arweave.
Momoka gets timestamp proofs from Bundlr to be able to keep chain and off-chain actions in ordering and also to have a third party timestamp to avoid trust assumptions on Momoka.
With Momoka, users still own their content as it’s not possible to action a Momoka transaction if you do not pass the access control on-chain.
Momoka is fully trustless – anyone can check proofs with their own Polygon archive node!
We believe Momoka is core to the future of web3 social, enabling applications to scale to tens of thousands of operations per second while still enabling the differentiating features that make web3 social unique and special.

Long story long wouldn't it be fun to have a **@lensprotocol odyssey**? I'm sure @ryanfox.lens can come up with a much better name :-).

Now, I present to you, 'The Glass Cage'...
Emma finds herself within a confining space. The dimensions of her enclosure are just enough to allow her a single step in any direction, her arms outstretched brushing the cold, dark walls. It's a familiar environment, one that she's grown accustomed to, a place of stillness and solitude.
Suddenly, a sign, no larger than her palm and resembling a shining symbol, illuminates the upper right corner of the glass wall. It glides smoothly down the surface like a comet streaking across a night sky, its radiance pulsating rhythmically. The sign is a complex pattern of curves and lines, shimmering in a spectrum of colours that shift and change as it moves. She notices it, leaning towards the wall, her hand hovering at waist height. She hesitates, then gently touches the sign.
A surge of energy pulses through her, a wave of satisfaction washing over her. Her lips curl into a smile, her eyes sparkling with joy. She exhales, a sigh of contentment escaping her lips.
More signs begin to appear, one on the left wall, another directly in front of her. She moves swiftly, tapping the signs before they've even descended a third of the wall. Two consecutive waves of blue energy ripple through her, amplifying her pleasure. She revels in the sensation.
The signs multiply, five, six at a time. She manages to tap them all, each successful interaction heightening her joy. Ten at a time, she conquers them all, wave after wave of pleasure coursing through her. But with each wave, the satisfaction diminishes. She craves more.
A slow-moving sign on the glass wall behind her catches her attention. She whirls around, but it's too late. The sign has crossed the line, disappearing beyond the floor level. A pulse of fiery red power, accompanied by a deafening sound, engulfs her. She winces, pain etched on her face.
She lunges towards the remaining signs, tapping them with a newfound urgency. Fifty signs fall from the top, their speed increasing. Three slip past her, hitting the floor. Agonizing pain from the red waves immobilizes her. Six more slip past.
A wall of signs looms, threatening to hit the floor. Desperate, she reaches out, her voice echoing a futile "No!" just before they hit.
A flash of red, tens at a time, ripple through her. She screams, her knees buckling under the pain. Her fists clench, strands of hair entwined between her fingers. She screams again, her voice hoarse, "STOP!"
She pounds the front glass wall with both hands, pleading, "Let me out!" Her efforts yield nothing but sparks and a spider web of shattered glass. "Let me out!" she screams, her voice echoing in the confined space.
Everything turns white. She blinks, her eyes darting left and right. A muffled voice reaches her from the side. She turns sharply towards the source, a man standing at a safe distance. "What?" she snaps.
Taken aback, the man stammers, 'I...I was just wondering if you're using this weight bench.
She looks down, her mind racing. "Yes, I'm between sets," she replies, her voice shaky.
"Are you okay?" the man asks, his face filled with concern.
"Yes, one set left," she responds, her voice steadier.
"Okay, I'll leave you to it then," the man says, retreating.
She nods, her attention drawn to a familiar 'bip-bip' sound. A notification appears on her phone. A flashback of the wall full of signs, the red waves, and the suffering she endured hits her. She swiftly turns off her phone and, with a steady hand, tosses it into her backpack.
As the phone arcs through the air, a transformation unfolds. Emma, who was once suffering within the confines of the box, rises, assuming a power pose. A brilliant white light envelops her, and the box shatters into countless fragments. The scene shifts, and we're back in the gym.
The young woman is on the weight bench, performing her exercise, a picture of determination and resilience.
**THE END**
Thank you for reading 'The Glass Cage'. If you're a fan of 'Love, Death Robots' or 'Black Mirror', we'll get along just fine. 🤖💔 Stay tuned for more stories coming soon!

- Introducing Orb Communities! 🪐
The Community Layer of Web3.
Orb Communities are composable and interoperable, built on top of the @LensProtocol.lens.lens. It makes it easy to integrate community features across Lens apps.
Today, we are thrilled to present the first iteration of Orb Communities, a vision that has been with us since we embarked on the Orb journey a year ago.
These communities are a fundamental part of the composable and interoperable community layer of web3.
User-owned communities empower people by decentralizing authority and making every individual a crucial stakeholder in the community's direction and evolution.
This marks a significant shift from traditional, centralized communities, where only a select few make decisions.
We believe that @LensProtocol Profiles are much more than NFTs.
At the core of our Communities membership lies the ERC-6551 with Lens Profiles turned into Token Bound Accounts (TBA).
Communities are much more vibrant and engaging when built together.
We warmly welcome developers to build upon it! Check out our Mirror for more https://mirror.xyz/orbapp.eth/s5HNwiDup4sw2nbDi8FgZmlcpR6qIulTsW5qh6KRT0I

Sharing a couple of favourites from my Holiday in Helsinki. Free to collect.
Lonkero
Long drinks, no doubt a Finnish gem, first made their appearance at the Helsinki Olympics in 1952. Can you believe they were meant to be a limited-time treat just for the Games? Well, the Finns got hooked. The drink's popularity soared, and they decided to keep it around long after the Olympics ended. Nowadays you can get Lonkero on tap in most bars in Helsinki.
Occasionally they introduce new flavors to keep things exciting. It all began with the original grapefruit flavor, but since then, they've had some real hits. I still remember that one summer when cranberry lonkero was all the rage. This year, it's all about the pineapple (which didn't quite tickle my taste buds, but apparently, it's been a massive hit).
I once brought a six pack of this orange one as a souvenir from Finland to my friends, and although it was over 10 years ago, my friend still won’t stop talking about it haha!
