- Introducing Bonsai, an Optimistic L3 scaling solution, that will process transactions at hyper-scale, and is designed to support the next generation of web3 social users.
Available for Lens devs in closed beta today.
Data availability layers are utilized to prevent storing information on-chain. While content on Lens may include an on-chain transaction, the content data is linked to a data availability location, like Bonsai.
Bonsai serves as a scaling solution that processes Polygon transactions off-chain, achieving hyperscale and reducing costs. Unlike L2 solutions, Bonsai doesn't compress transactions into L1, it sends and stores them on a data availability layer.
The main challenge for decentralized social networks is to ensure that users have control over their content, while still being just as user-friendly as traditional social networks.
Bonsai makes the future of decentralized social possible.
We've worked relentlessly with the @bundlr-network.lens work and Arweave teams to ensure scalability by providing Data Availability (DA) guarantees, allowing the use of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-supported wallets to save DA logic and facilitating the rapid publishing of data.
Permissionless innovation is at the core of everything we do on Lens. As we approach one year on mainnet (still in beta), we have been blown away by the talent and passion in our dev community but we realize in order to scale to the masses, we need to build new solutions.
Bonsai is currently only being beta tested on @lensterxyz.
We look forward to seeing more applications roll out Bonsai.

Aave Protocol V3 is now live on the Ethereum market π
βThe most exciting aspect of V3 is its flexible design, which enables a variety of new risk mitigation features, and its improved capital efficiency and decentralized liquidity β all while reducing gas costs.β @stani.lens
With the deployment of V3 on Ethereum mainnet, Aaveβs first and largest market, our community has unlocked new technical features and benefits, including π
πΒ **High-Efficiency Mode:** allows users to increase their capital efficiency when supplying and borrowing correlated assets like stablecoins and liquid staking derivates (LSDs)
πͺΒ **Isolation Mode:** enables more assets to be listed on Aave as collateral while maintaining the security of the protocol. Liquidity risks can be siloed by listing assets in isolation mode.
β½οΈ **Gas Optimization:** reduces gas costs associated with all the functions across the board by ~ 20-25%.

@AaveAave.lens recently announced a development update on $GHO! πͺ
Time for us to have a closer look and provide you with all the alpha available on $GHO so far π
New to $GHO? Get a little refresher in our previous thread covering all the main aspects: https://twitter.com/Stablecoinswtf/status/1545420652844265473
In its latest development update, @AaveAave.lens provided the first technical paper explaining how $GHO works.
Also, we can only recommend checking out this great thread by @ipor_intern digging into the details of $GHO's technical implementation: https://twitter.com/ipor_intern/status/1581567543914872834
Let us now dive deeper into what makes $GHO truly special and which implications this might have for the broader DeFi market π΅οΈββοΈ
How facilitators might let the $AAVE DAO to become the leading central bank of DeFi π¦π
$GHO introduces the concept of facilitators.
Facilitators are independent entities granted the right to mint $GHO in a trustless manner. Each facilitator and its mechanism to offer $GHO has to be approved by the $AAVE DAO.
At any time, there is a max. supply of $GHO defined by the $AAVE DAO.
Also, each facilitator has a defined 'bucket' that sets its individual maximum supply of $GHO that can be minted.
β‘οΈ If a transaction exceeds the supply limit of $GHO for the specific facilitator, the transaction fails.
Now, let us have a closer look into how this system could look in practice π
The first $GHO facilitator will be the @AaveAave v3 protocol itself.
Over time, the AAVE DAO will vote on the proposals of potential facilitators and eventually might enable them to trustlessly mint $GHO.
These facilitators could for instance be RWA-based via @centrifuge, algorithmically credit-based similar to @BeanstalkFarms or CDP-based protocols such as @QiDaoProtocol.
The possibilities are endless and only limited by the risk-appetite of the $AAVE DAO.
The facilitators will enable $GHO to potentially reach any stablecoin user group across all chains and ecosystems.
This does not only put the $AAVE DAO into the position of a central bank within the DeFi ecosystem (given $GHO is able to gain a large market share) but also places significant responsibilities on the DAO which could even transition to a systematic risk for the wider DeFi market.
It will be up to the DAO to find and implement a working and efficient governance & risk monitoring process to securely scale $GHO among multiple different facilitators.
Another key pillar of $GHO will be its interest/borrowing rate on AAVE v3.
$GHO will start with a fixed interest rate set and governed by the $AAVE DAO. This further highlights the DAO's potential role in becoming one of the key economic policy drivers in DeFi.
However, fixed interest rates are not easy to manage and likely to bring markets out of equilibrium in the long-term.
Find below an illustration on how the $AAVE DAO could implement and change its interest rate approach following the growth of $GHO π
With a growing $GHO market share, the $AAVE DAO might implement a separate Risk Admin Entity which might autonomously manage small interest rate changes under adversarial market conditions.
After $GHO has matured, it might make sense to switch to a floating interest rate based on a utilization curve or a similar mechanism.
So how does @AaveAave actually benefit from $GHO? π»

- Yesterday Lens Protocol announced the CultivatorDAO (π©βπΎ,π¨βπΎ) to establish community driven content curation for Trust & Safety. Going to share our vision below on how we see the web3 social stack evolve π§΅
First, Lens Protocol is a decentralized social media protocol that acts as a registry to point content and followers. Users can link to any content which can be stored on-chain & off-chain. Most of the content is off-chain (stored in IPFS or Arweave etc).
The Protocol is flexible enough to link the content even to a private cloud or to a self-hosted environment. This is an interesting use case for follower and token gated content. It's up to the applications and users to choose how they use Lens Protocol.
Lens Protocol design guarantees users the access to their own social network. You don't need to trust centralized or off-chain platforms with your followers. Meaning every user has their own social network.
Not only you own your own network, but you also have the ability to broadcast content in a permissionless and censorship resistant way. Anyone you grant the access to your content has the ability to explore your creativity and self expression. This is decentralization by design.
While decentralization is groundbreaking for web3 social, the amount of information and finding relevant peers and content for you to discover would be a time consuming mission. This reason is why we would see another stack evolve - the middleware - where curation lives.
The middleware layer already exists on Lens Protocol, there are tools such as Graph Protocol, RSS3, Sepana and the Lens API. The middleware layer consists from widely decentralized appoaches to being progressively decentralized depending on the use cases they serve.
The latest addition to the middleware are communities such as the CultivatorDAO, focusing on curation with Trust & Safety in mind. Where code cannot solve everything, we need communities to reflect their values and govern.
The DAOs of the Lensverse will serve the application layer for various tasks ranging from building discovery algorithms, content moderation and solving various challenges that social media faces today.
The key difference between the web2 and web3 social stack is that in web3, the stack is completely open. When you don't like a policy or an experience, as a user you should be able to find a new experience without leaving behind your accumulated social capital.
Hopefully we will see small communities evolve across the web3 social ecosystem, being utilized for tasks that would benefit from community governance.
I would even imagine that every social media application built on top of Lens Protocol would have its own DAO consisting of its community members voted by the community that reflects the their own values.
Most importantly, these DAOs can operate transparently and since the measures taken by these DAOs are public, there should not be any shadow banning (see here: https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x05-0x0417).
By ensuring human assessment and the design that leads to decentralization, we are able to ensure that web3 social doesn't become a closed platform and users are able to access to open social networks that are driven by community engagement & stewardship.
Building a decentralized stack is a harder exercise than starting from a centralized approach, but brings the benefit of fully verified content linking on-chain wherever you store your content, ownership to your social graph, ability to use timestamps and create programmability.
And most importantly: decentralized and on-chain content and follower registries opens up the programmability and composability to another level. Imagine pairing Lens with tools like Simo, Lit Protocol, DeFi, NFTs, ReFi and DAO governance.
Besides reachitecturing the social stack, part of the mission for the Lens team is to make the social stack more accessible. Now with all interactions across the Lens Protocol, users do not need to sign or pay any gas. Blockchain on the backend, party on the frontend π₯³
Next Monday, you will be able to vote for CultivatorDAO with your Lens Profile to signal your support for community driven stewardship https://snapshot.org/#/cultivatordao.eth/proposal/0xd512345eb6c9b7bbf57b28a8b4f7dc46d31ab6c19ac8ad5de4605fa52fcb9e98
If you love our vision and what we are building, collect and mirror this post to retain your early user flexing rights πΏ
- Introducing CultivatorDAO π§βπΎπ©βπΎ the first Web3 social DAO designed for open, decentralized content moderation on Lens Protocol. It is the first solution for addressing spam, bots, and other risks that can damage your social graph.
CultivatorDAO is optional - meaning it can be "turned on" by developers and/or users - and helps address spam, mitigate the risk of bots, and further curate the social graph across the ecosystem.
CultivatorDAO is also forkable, meaning the Lens community can fork the DAO and create their own version that caters to their specific needs for content moderation.
We believe that open, decentralized content moderation leads to more user-centric web that is resistant to abuse and censorship. We are excited to see what the Lens developer community builds out π‘
