- `getting started` with #lens in 5 steps 🪴 [Feb 2023 update]
(0 a) maybe consider adding some information about yourself and a pfp to your profile before you start.
(0 b) "hello world" posts get quite some attention ... 😉 . (if you can post something related to what you are interested in ... 🎇 -> People you start following might take a look at your profile and follow if they are interested in the content you share.) Find one great example at the end of the post.
(1) lists.inlens.xyz/lists/81… *updated*** - list of great profiles to start your lens journey ... you will discover a ton, worth following profiles in the communities of people in this list. lists.inlens.xyz/ in general is a great starting point.
(2) find your twitter contacts on lens: inlens.xyz/ (not everyone with a lens profile, active on twitter, is very active on lens (yet ;-)). Maybe consider connecting with new people, sharing interesting content on lens.)
(3) probably you read this post on @lenster.lens . If you are interested in lens mobile apps, @orbapp.lens and @buttrfly.lens (iOS only) are at the moment - imo - the most advanced general purpose lens mobile apps. One of the beautiful things regarding lens is that it doesn't matter which lens app you use, every lens app has access to the same content and social graph.
(4) what you share on lens is stored and publicly available for a very long time. Probably *forever*. You can hide posts, comments and mirrors. But that's a front-end feature, the data is still available and publicly accessible.
(5) "collects" are a very powerful concept, adding a NFT version of the post to your address (4th symbol below a post on @lenster.lens ). Collects can be monetised -> creators can use collect fees to earn money on lens.
`advanced topics`
**other mobile apps**: @lentilapp.lens (iOS native general purpose app), @converseapp.lens (iOS @xmtplabs.lens mobile messaging app pls contact @polmaire.lens if you are interested), @lenstaxyz.lens image focused lens mobile app.

**tools**: @chainjet.lens automate processes, like notifications ( @remindmebot.lens 👀). @lensdropxyz raffle tokens based on constraints (e.g. 1 of the profiles who collected post xyz will get a NFT). @wav3s.lens incentivise people to mirror or comment content. @madfinance.lens Lens Bounties, allowing creators to earn "by creating a Lens post using the creative direction of a brand". @theshr.lens decentralised publishing platform. @letsrally.lens lens spaces. @wagmifund.lens decentralised crowd funding platform.

- **The Rise Of UGC 2.0: User Generated Collects**
Everyone has seen the power of User-Generated Content 'UGC' in the age of social media. Here's why UGC 2.0 or 'User-Generated Collects' will be the next evolution of this format unlocked by the blockchain.
I have been posting snippets here on Lenster the last few weeks about these themes as I framed out my article.
Here is the final piece: **https://mirror.xyz/chrissyb.eth/r0SyE9QdvQribykjXvdMqYElGQT8ZFnthV_rUlyNqNk**
#LMCC
Inspired by the following people: @ladidaix, @ryanfox, @bellosights (@levychain), @stani and @azeem.
**Cliff notes:**
In today's one-directional social media interactions, "likes'' are abundant & meaningless when it comes to generating authentic connections or content discovery. Instead of simply liking something, we would rather participate.
UGC 2.0 is not just a new format, it will revolutionize social media by unlocking far-reaching effects on content consumption than its predecessor. Collectable social content will enrich our experiences and create new forms of digital engagement between creators and users alike.
By giving creators and users ownership & control of their content without the impediments of gatekeepers they can leverage it into new opportunities across fandom, community connectivity, curation, data and monetization.
Creators aren’t defined by one platform or medium anymore. The creators, curators and communities of tomorrow will be empowered by data transparency aggregated across the entire social ecosystem without the gatekeepers and centralized databases of today. A more sustainable environment for the long tail and micro-creator to flourish as a result. Indexing less on numbers such as reach and likes, instead providing the tools to focus on quality and depth of relationship and content.
It will also mark the future of brand creation. Changing how brands interact with consumers as active participants in their own social consumption.
This is what @lensprotocol strives for. I hope this piece helps scratch the surface and inspires creators, users and builders to explore the possibilities.

- Hey everyone - I've written my first long-form thought piece and released it on Mirror.xyz, please consider giving it a read! My new year's resolution was to write more. My goal with this piece is to help people understand the nature of the current web2 social landscape and begin to question what role we all play in it. This is a prerequisite to understanding what @lensprotocol is all about, and something I talk a lot about with people practically every day.
I hope you like it!
**Second-Mover Advantage and Why It’s So Damn Hard To Build The Next Big Social Media App**
https://mirror.xyz/bradorbradley.eth/bncB4C2jq9SpR6OhfE-0FYonPB9fNPnNrreo0WSVrRI
Here's a quick teaser:
Why is it so hard to make a successful new social media product in 2023? Why do a few apps come to dominate our daily lives while so many more never even make it to the Top 100 App Store?
New web2 social products need to succeed at these 3 things: 1. build a great product (hard) 2. scale your users (expensive/risky) 3. survive second-mover advantage from Big Tech copy cats (seemingly impossible) It's never been a scarier time to build a new social product
There's no shortage of examples of Big Tech hindering growth (or killing entirely) newcomer social apps by shamelessly copying them:
@Snapchat stories >> @instagram stories
@Clubhouse >> @Twitter spaces
@BeReal_App >> @tiktok_us Now
And yet, some newcomer apps are able to still create entire new categories of social products - like TikTok and most recently, BeReal b/c of the robust communities they establish early on It's easier to copy features than communities, and that's good news for newcomers
What conditions are necessary for a social app environment to enable more of these new communities and products to flourish? In order to imagine a new kind of social landscape, we need to understand the problems with the existing one
But more on that in pt. 2
- We will remember these early days
- I am stoked how the right tools can bring the best out of people. Figma has helped to bring more creativity and innovation within Aave over the past couple of years. What tools have helped you so far?
- New update alert 🥁🥁🥁
The Orb app just got even cooler with chat and tons of new features!
Check out these sneak peeks of all the awesomeness!
- That Orb update 🔥🔥
- Most of the teams behind Lens apps are quite small which brings lot of agility and also shows how fast you can build web3 social
Lenster = 1
LensTube = 1
Buttrfly = 1
Orb = 3
Phaver = Few
How big are others?
- Would be cool to see a “remind me about this post” feature integrated into Lens apps giving you the option of the time frame reminders
- I love finding new music 🎧 and rediscovering old favourites. Would be cool to see a player that shows you
- How many people are listening to the song at the same time as you
- If you share that song does it start a spike of new listeners, you should then be rewarded for that spike
Maybe something similar exists, if anyone is building you have one tester right here 👋
- The community has spoken 🔉 we have the 🟢 light to deploy Aave Protocol V3 on Ethereum Mainnet ⚡️.
More details to come tomorrow 🚀 .
Thanks to the Aave community for voting 🗳️, let's celebrate together and collect this exclusive Aave V3 ghost 👻
- As Lens Protocol continues to grow, our design team would love to get feedback from the community to continue enhancing the user experience for our most important segment: our community 🌿

- Spent part of the weekend re-reading the GHO Technical Paper, and it has made me so excited to see it live.
Dropping some of my key takeaways and what makes GHO different from other stablecoins:
1) GHO x Aave - the first facilitator described by the GHO paper is the Aave Market. With the Aave Market issuing stablecoins, which are the #1 borrow token type, expect the interest rate for GHO to be lower than that of USDC, DAI and more. With no suppliers to compensate with interest, the GHO borrow rate is pure profit for the DAO and can undercut other stables.
2) Facilitators - the GHO section of the paper doesn't describe any specific stable, issuance or redemption mechanism, just the ability for governance to add and give limits to different strategies called "facilitators". My read is that governance will evaluate a multitude of strategies and onboard many, since exposure to each can be capped via facilitator limits.
3) Modular design - while the source code for GHO isn't released (I can't wait to dive in myself), this model of facilitators makes adding new strategies super modular. Things that may be complex in other stables (D3M, LiquidityInjection, CollateralInvestor, PSM) can be coded and audited in a much easier manner.
Read the paper for yourself and let me know what you think!

- The Creator Economy and Crypto with Robin Schmidt (Podcast)
Trying a new audio format if you prefer podcasts!
Robin Schmidt, aka SuperMassive, just launched his new project BasedAF! He is the former Head of Video and Media at The Defiant. He was the original star and producer of The Defiant Youtube channel, which grew to over 100k subscribers in less than a year during 2021. BasedAF recently dropped a number of teasers and a theatrical trailer on their Twitter account alluding to a mysterious "mint" which took place on January 6-7, 2023.
In this interview, we discuss his insights on what he calls The Creator Economy and how it has been impacted in both positive and negative ways by crypto and new Web3 tools such as NFTs. Robin has been a professional filmmaker and a standout content creator in the crypto space. He shares his hope to design better incentives for creators to keep doing what they love without needing to extract value from their audience, thanks to a few lessons he learned from his time exploring reporting on DeFi.
THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION OR ENDORSEMENT TO BUY ANY FUTURE NFT RELATED TO BASEDAF.
