`getting started` with #lens in 5 steps 🪴 [June 2023 update] (0 a) maybe consider adding some information about yourself and a pfp to your profile before you start. (0 b) "hello world" posts get quite some attention ... 😉 . (if you can post something related to what you are interested in ... 🎇 -> People you start following might take a look at your profile and follow if they are interested in the content you share.) Find one great example at the end of the post. (2) find your twitter contacts on lens: inlens.xyz/ (not everyone with a lens profile, active on twitter, is very active on lens (yet ;-)). Maybe consider connecting with new people, sharing interesting content on lens.) (3) probably you read this post on @lenster.lens . If you are interested in lens mobile apps, @orbapp.lens and @buttrfly.lens are at the moment - imo - the most advanced general purpose lens mobile apps. One of the beautiful things regarding lens is that it doesn't matter which lens app you use, every lens app has access to the same content and social graph. (4) what you share on lens is stored and publicly available for a very long time. Probably forever. You can hide posts, comments and mirrors. But that's a front-end feature, the data is still available and publicly accessible. (5) "collects" are a very powerful concept, adding a NFT version of the post to your address (4th symbol below a post on @lenster.lens ). Collects can be monetised -> creators can use collect fees to earn money on lens. **one more thing** :-) being active, commenting on posts and topics you are interested in goes a long way. Of course there is a chance that your posts will be discovered, commented and mirrored, but you increase the probability of being discovered dramatically with valuable comments. @jeanmi.lens increased his followers +5k within 39 days. How he did it? "be yourself, try to engage with people, sharing images seems to accelerate engagement/growth, people love to ‘GM'" One more one more thing ;-) the latest notification update shows notifications for profiles one follows and a few other profiles only (if the filter isn’t deactivetd). -> at the time of writing it’s quite challenging to get attention, especially for new profiles. 2 approaches to get some visibility: **[1]** @animators.lens started on lens drawing lens PFPs https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x0108fb-0x75 . Imo still one of the best (high quality) growth hacks I’ve seen on lens yet (0 to 100 followers). Why do we collect social media posts here? What good does having photos from @chaoticmonk.lens and @grams.lens in my wallet do me? Why on Earth would you collect a @chriscomrie.lens podcast or a monthly guide to Lens by @punkess.lens ?? Patronage? Show of support? Okay, but we can do better. A wallet is like a personal cloud service, it’s a locker for your files. There’s (effectively) not much difference between an iCloud/Dropbox account and an Ethereum wallet. We can create apps that store and retrieve data in a wallet. We can also leverage AI to use your collected data when generating new data. I collect social media posts because at some point I’m going to be writing a post or making a video and AI will be able to show what my influences were and how those ideas were probably introduced to me. I’ll be able to list my influences and cite my sources. I imagine in 2033 I’m going to be writing about the early days of Lens, the glorious beta years, and I’ll be able to talk to my ChatGPT assistant which is trained on my collected data, including Alice’s writings. It will be able to reference her guide and Chris’ podcast, answer my specific questions for things I don’t quite remember, and I’ll be able to generate a new photo in the style of @arterlioz.lens The last era of social media gave everyone Followers.
