- Designing Diverse Teams w/Kaitlin Smith | S5 E4
On this episode of Rehash, we speak with Kaitlyn Smith, Chief Strategy Officer of Bankless, about common mistakes web3 teams make in hiring, the business case for building diverse teams, human centered design, and much more. Bankless is a crypto media organization that’s trying to help the next billion people go bankless.
Kaitlyn is an ops queen who - prior to working in web3 - worked at BlackRock, Ernst & Young, and obtained her MBA from Georgetown. She has a wealth of experience in the hiring and team building space and brings a grounded and sophisticated perspective to the often disorganized and chaotic world of web3.
This episode wouldn’t be complete without a brief conversation about mountaineering - something both of us love to do. Kaitlyn shares some of her biggest adventures, misadventures, and learnings, which include learnings on why we need more diversity not just in web3 but in the mountaineering world as well.
Kaitlyn is equal parts analytical and empathetic, and her balanced approach to her work and her life, combined with her clear communication style, makes this an extremely digestible and actionable episode.

Subtle plug on how much I love @LensProtocol

#lens #socialgraph
- if ur building a product, u rely on users to tell u what they want
if ur offering a service, u rely on clients to tell u what makes them happy
if ur a creator, u rely on followers to tell u what they wanna consume
community owned is the biggest hack ppl don't take advantage of
- i'm not against new social platforms if they address a new need or niche
but "we hate twitter" so everyone go build a "better twitter" is not a convincing strategy for me
- Adding Spice to Venture Capital w Maya Bakhai | S5 E3
On this episode of Rehash, we speak with Maya Bakhai, founder and general partner at Spice Capital, about investing in web3, diversity in venture capital, the future of the creator economy, and more. - Benefits of Liquid Staking w/html_tina | S5 E2
On this episode of Rehash, we have a highly technical conversation with html_tina about re-staking, liquid staking tokens (LSTs), oracles, slashing, and more. Html_tina is a Product Manager and Head of Governance at EigenLayer, a protocol built on Ethereum that introduces re-staking, a new primitive in cryptoeconomic security.
Tina does a great job of explaining these concepts in an easy to understand way, introducing playground analogies that even a 5 year old can understand. She also draws from traditional finance concepts like rehypothecation to further illustrate what liquid staking can enable.
On a more practical front, Tina shares her best tips for someone trying out liquid staking for the first time, including why it’s of utmost importance to find a liquid staking service that offers full decentralization and self custody.
Finally, Tina shares her views on the role of forking and rehypothecation in governance models and the potential benefits and drawbacks of the two within the context of a DAO.

- Competition, Community & Culture w/Sirsu | S5 E1
On our first episode of Season 5, we speak with Sirsu about competitive communities and culture through the lens of esports. Sirsu is one of the founders of BLVKHVND, an on chain esports organization that leverages innovative technology to compete globally and build open and accessible experiences for their community.
Sirsu shares some of his experiences with managing the community at BLVKHVND, including what he has done to foster an inclusive and welcoming community within the confines of competition and how he has handled conflicts that have arisen amongst community members along the way.
He also shares his thoughts more broadly on the role of leaders or facilitators within a competitive community, how that differs from a traditional competitive community to a decentralized one like BLVKHVND, and some web3 principles and tools he has incorporated into BLVKHVND that he thinks other competitive communities could benefit from as well.
Finally, we chat about one of Sirsu’s favorite topics: culture. Sirsu undertakes the challenge of quantifying culture with words and shares examples and analogies from daily life to help us better understand the nuances of various cultural movements in history.

- How Web3 Empowers Independent Artists w/Ibn Inglor | S4 E14
On this episode of Rehash, we caught up with recording artist, Ibn Inglor, to discuss the intersection of web3, music, and community building. Ibn has been involved in the web3 music space since 2021 when he launched a Mirror crowdfund to support the production of his EP, Danger Zone.
Ibn’s musical journey started during his childhood in Chicago’s Altgeld Gardens - a neighborhood he wouldn't leave until his later teen years. As he continued to pursue music, he also became interested in the web3 space and NFTs thanks to a tip from a friend. After taking time to learn more about blockchain and the underlying technology, Ibn decided to dive into web3 music in 2021. He has been creating and experimenting ever since.
During our discussion we talk about navigating web3 and all of its challenges as an artist, experimenting with new tech, the importance of forming authentic relationships, and Ibn gives new web3 creators some advice on how to get started in the space.

- Sufficiently Decentralized Social Media w/Dan Romero | S4 E8
On this episode of Rehash we sit down with Dan Romero, co-founder of Farcaster and Warpcast to talk about all things web3 social. We kick off the episode as Dan walks us through the evolution from web1, to web2, to web3 and he shares how web3 can utilize the best elements of web1 and web2 like permissionlessness and ease of use to create a better future on the internet.
To illustrate the potential of Farcaster and Warpcast, Dan explains the difference between an app and a protocol, breaks down the concept of sufficient decentralization, and shares the reasoning behind growing the Farcaster ecosystem slowly and intentionally. Tune in to hear Dan answer some questions from the community and leave listeners with the secret code for getting onto Farcaster.
