- A few of us are building something.
It's called JUICE.
@noturhandle.lens and I have started a podcast to get the ball rolling. GOT NO JUICE.
You can listen to the first episode here:

- Seems like my Orb app was a little borked and I missed many notifications about stuff happening in the lensphere... sorry, I haven't been ignoring you all....I promise!
- Hi all. neume has been selected for the gitcoin open source software funding round this time round. Our goal is to help build out a public goods core to the onchain music stack (as I wrote about at length here https://danfowler.substack.com/p/mapping-out-the-onchain-music-ecosystem).
As I'm sure you guys already know, gitcoin matches funding based on a quadratic formula, so the more donators that can help the better for the match.
If you can help us in this goal then we'd really appreciate any support! The plan is to hopefully use this as a starting point to build out a music & media focussed public good funding stream with gitcoin in the future.
We are currently working to ingest lens contracts and this will build on that as detailed in the grant page. Providing open source infra for any front ends that want cross chain music.
❤️

- A slightly more personal post on why it's so important to stay true to your value while building

- I just put out a piece trying to explain what's in my head when I think about the "onchain music ecosystem".
Many references to lens, obv.
Hopefully it's useful, please let me know if you have any thoughts!

- I wanted to try something new.
This will be my first music release here on lens.
It's an early demo of my song "This Song" which came out in 2017. I probably wrote this on the road around 2015/2016. It has a lot of the final ideas, but totally different type of beat. This is what I showed Rostam, and we built from there.
It's unfinished and unpolished but it's kinda fun to look back at where ideas originated.

- Golden Hour (lyric video)
“Golden Hour”, the first single from my forthcoming EP “Play This At Sunset” is now live on @decentxyz.lens (subscribe to collect)
If you’ve been on the same planet as I have, then I’m certain that times have been rough for you as well in some way.
I hope that this song can serve as encouragement for us both, to pull ourselves up.
I released this song as a crowd fund going to help me make it to my artist residency at @creatorcabins.lens and the support has been amazing.
I am going to make good on all of the support and love I’ve been shown by going as hard as possible starting with pushing this song and message to as many people as I can.

- The future of music...
My current thinking of what we should be aiming for as we build into the next wave of development.
Very likely incomplete and a lot to talk about within each element. Inspiration for the next blog...
- This week's blog is on looking at the new "baseline" in crypto music and the features that define it.: engagement, funding , and infrastructure.
And how Public Goods and Venture Funding are symbiotic drivers building towards the next cycle.

- I'd been struggling to make time and space to get into the Lens ecosystem alongside twitter, discord, discourse etc. But the Orb app has been a huge help. Loving it as a front end.
- Living in a fairly remote cabin in the mountains through the winter is great for the mental space and quiet that it provides... but it does also remind you that no matter how hard you plan to do something (like going down to the nearest town to get food), the wind, sheer cold, or even type of snow fall, can stop everything flat. Three days trying to dig the car out of the snow later and looks like we aren't moving any time soon.
- Dusting down the neume blog for the first time in a while to outline the short and medium term areas of prioritisation for neume development, with the goal of achieving "escape velocity".
This will come through financial independence, multi-party development requirements, and compounding growth of users and developers.

- As a first update, see some news that we dropped from neume:
neume 2.0
Over the past few months we have been hard at work to improve the architecture of neume, with several objectives:
- Accessibility (+ social scalability)
- Faster & cheaper to run (+ performance)
- Queryable (+ useful)
...
Looking forwards
In a couple of weeks, we will be launching the neume-server repo to streamline the setting up and deployment of your own neume instance.
We will also be looking at open-sourcing HIFI Labs's internal musicOS Strapi API into a neume-api later in the year.
Our upcoming short-term focus:
- expanding the contracts that are ingested into neume, with an initial prioritisation on Decent and Lens Protocol, and
- building out proper and comprehensive documentation.
