- It‘s a Podsday. This is the 16th Episode with @0xfran.lens from @superfluid.lens . We talked about how time is money. What will happen when you can pay subscriptions in real-time. And how to pay onchain without paying the gas. And of course, we talked about the future of personal finance.
- What would it take to onboard non-web3 natives to Lens?
IMO it's mainly three things:
1. Abstracted UX nightmares
2. **Better ways to make money**
3. Fun!
IMO we need to turn lens into the best platform for creators to make money.
IMO native subscriptions (using @superfluid.lens) are what's missing
@madfinance.lens when are you going to be ready?

- Had a Lightbulb moment for Lens💡
Lens Metadata could be **anything** ❤️🔥
Let me explain...
Amongst other benefits, *interoperability* and *extensibility* are some of the most exciting ones.
-> Extend metadata -> interoperate with other lens clients.
The success of instagram and tiktok, to some extent, can be traced back to their "editors". Instagram starting taking off when they introduced filters, which made any photo look better. TikTok has easily the easiest/most powerful video editor available on mobile.
We've seen this work extremely well for image and video. Obviously for text there's less variability
Where am I going with this?
... Lens Metadata could be **anything** ❤️🔥
This means that, with the right "editor" experience, any new form of *Content* could be created, and turn into a champion of a niche community. "User Generated Content", beyond img/video.
Think of small embedded pieces of interactive content, micro web pages that users can "play" with, and easily create/remix through a good editor experience.
Some ideas:
- A Lens Client specialised in embedded chess/sudoku puzzles, solve and collect
- A Lens Client focused on code. Each post is a small playable snippet (maybe codesandbox?)
- A Lens Client for generative art. Posts are forkable artworks (@bartomolina.lens thinking of your hack🤩)
Why I think Lens makes this 10x more likely?
1. Discoverability (through interoperability). Anyone can create a niche social network. But now they can create it "inside" of existing Lens clients. You come to Lenster and discover ChessLens or whatever. Discoverability is the hardest thing for niche internet experiences
2. Interoperability. Same profile, same posts. My comments to every chess puzzle show up on lenster. I can show off my collects in a different place. Make friends across apps
3. Built in monetization. As more and more monetization functionality is built on Lens, there is less each new app needs to build. Creators will familiarize themselves with the concepts, and builders will be able to drill deeper into niches at a fraction of the cost. Focusing on the editor experience will be the key
Bullish on Lens

- Is there a way to share a lens link to a post which will allow the person opening the link to pick their own favourite app?
I.e. if I share a link to lenster but on Mobile, I'd like to be able to open it on Orb
- Posts on Lens seem to get a few likes immediately, and then disappear from view (compared to Twitter, where you keep getting likes over about 24 usually).
Anyone else had this experience?
- "The little engine that could", coming to Superfluid Protocol soon....
- Why are so many folks in web3 afraid of charging their users?
If your service / app / community is worth it... **people will pay!** 🤑
And the opposite is also true: if you can't get people to pay, maybe it's not worth it.
Finding out quickly is the key to figuring out if you are building in the right direction, and if not, to pivot!
Luckily, it's never been easier to monetize in web3 💸
Here's how:
1. Figure out a price
2. Go to copperx.com and set up your subscription plan
3. Users pay you every second, using @superfluid_hq.lens streams 🌊💰

- Lens Protocol is open, anyone who has a profile can have permissionless access regardless of what application they are using. We believe in supporting content creators and followers who create an engaging environment for everyone.
Some applications use gasless and signless transactions, and we have now introduced eligibility requirements for these features.
While everyone is eligible by default, accounts with low-signal engagement will not be eligible. You can read more about our requirements here. https://docs.lens.xyz/docs/gasless#eligibility-requirements
We are also testing filtering low-signal notifications for a better user experience. https://docs.lens.xyz/docs/users-notifications#api-details
At Lens, we believe that Web3 social should create a better experience than before, by using blockchain technology. We are always experimenting with ways to better our user experience by filtering low-signal profiles and bots. Let’s keep experimenting, our DMs are open for feedback 🧪

- Can we make uniswap v1/v2 style exchanges continuous in time? Or can we have zero intermediate liquidity market maker using Superfluid flows of money?
Yes!
Superfluid protocol applies FRP (Functional Reactive Programming) to money, the result is the various designs of Reactive Exchange that can SLAMM (Streaming Liquidity Automatic Market Makers), especially:

Hey folks. In the image below it seems joonatan is replying to me. In fact, he's replying to someone else's reply to my post.
Might be worth changing the design to reflect that a bit more clearly. Twitter adds some dots in the middle of the line on the left, for example
- This year was good for me on a personal and professional level and I am excited to enter into the new year in a few days. Some of the projects I would like to build next year will include...
1. Distribute Lens collection earnings to audience (followers) using @superfluid.lens.
This will be my immediate next project which I aim to build before the end of this year and launch it early next year. Content creators can reward their followers for supporting them with a share of their earnings and all that the creators have to do is to specify the amount/percentage to share. Rest is taken care of by automation and Superfluid Protocol 👀.
2. Premium content subscription on Lens protocol using @litprotocol.lens and @superfluid.lens.
I along with @0xfran.lens and a couple of others (whose Lens profile I don't know) created a PoC at #ETHIndia at the start of this year. Essentially, this allows a creator to post premium content on Lens protocol which can only be accessed by subscribers who "stream" a certain number tokens (USDCx for now) to the creators every month (technically every second if you know Superfluid 😉). BTW, this project can use the mechanism described in the first idea in this post.
3. Gated content subscriptions using @superfluid.lens (I think from this point onwards I should stop tagging Superfluid because it's implicitly involved anyway 😅)
Though this is possible to do this now, I am focusing on making more integrations. One of them being @paragraph.lens. Creators can now token gate their blogs/newsletters only accessible to subscribers streaming tokens to the creators.
4. Enhanced Lens protocol and Twitter bridge.
I know there already exists one created by the awesome @m1guelpf.lens but I have some mods in my mind and would like to experiment by forking and contributing to the already built out bridge.
5. Continue building DeSIP.
I was building a systematic investment plans product for subscribing to different funds in different DeFi protocols and there exists a version of this built on top of the dHEDGE protocol. I will probably release this later next year so that anyone can use it or experiment with it.
If anyone wants to help me out by collaborating on some of these projects, reply to this post! If you like any of these ideas, plz don't "steal" any of these 😂.
- Hey @phaver.lens is there a way to log in without the web2 stuff for people who already have a lens profile?
- How does @lensxyz.lens handle NSFW content?
I'm guessing it's handled at the app level?
Do @orbapp.lens and @lenster.lens have any specific policies on this? Or has it simply not happened yet? 😅
- # 0.1.0 - 23rd December 2022\n\nThe Lens Core Team is excited to announce the first Developer Preview release of the official Lens SDK.\n\nThe Lens SDK will greatly improve the developer experience of building with the Lens API. It allows you to integrate with the Lens Protocol in seconds and gives you full control over the UX of your app.\n\nThis is just the beginning for the Lens SDK. We are starting with a collection of React Hooks and will add a low-level API Client for more advanced integrations, beyond React.\n\nTry out the Developer Preview release and tell us what you think!
https://github.com/lens-protocol/lens-sdk\n\nIn this release:
\n- feat: authentication w/ transparent token renewal\n- feat: React Hooks to:\n - fetch publications\n - fetch profiles\n - fetch followers/following\n - create post\n - fetch feed\n - notifications\n- feat: wagmi integration
\n\nSee the initial documentation at: https://docs.lens.xyz
- @orbapp.lens hey folks! Loving the app so far 👏👏
As a new user to lens, I still don't have the habit of checking the feed here (instead of twitter), so it would actually be very helpful if I could make the notifications a bit noisier. For example how on twitter you can get notifications when certain users tweet 🔔
- As a Linux/Unix geek since kernel 1.x, I am in favor of the idea of having KISS-principled, reusable, deploy-and-done smart contract utilities which are good at what they are doing.
E.g. 300 LoC of Sablier.sol is**** really**** cute, but it would be like comparing `ed` with `emacs/vim/vscode`, when it comes to what Superfluid would like to achieve.
Managing [essential complexity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Silver_Bullet) is the foremost important task for Superfluid V2, because we believe in the power of programmable, composable and semantically-rich money and we want to bring it to the world by tackling the challenges one by one.
Let's face it, comparing to the nuclear fusion project Helion (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDXXWQxK38), we are like doing kids playing house here. The spirit of human voyager lives on: we see where the new world is, and we will not stop until we get there!
- Ok just downloaded Orb. This is seriously cool.
I can see myself using this every day. Does it have push notifications?
Please interact with this post so I can check them out 😃
In exchange, here's a photo of my parent's new dog being a very good boy
- @orbapp.lens is beautiful! Will try to use it more. @0xfran.lens are you here?
- What is Superfluid Money?
Superfluid Money is internet money that is programmable, composable and semantically rich:
- It is **semantically rich**, because it supports novel primitives such as flows (constant flow value transfer from one address to another address), and distribution index (value transfer between one to many addresses, instantly or as flows), etc.
- It is **composable**, because the value is usable the moment its transferred.
- It is **programmable**, because automation can be done by code using framework such as "Super Apps" (https://lnkd.in/djeaE7ab.)
- Lastly, it is **internet money**, since its first implementation came to life thanks to Ethereum's open spirit and innovation on globally scaled trust without corruptible central entities.
Something even bigger at Superfluid is coming next year, happy holidays!

- Some thoughts and prayers from a bear market veteran (second time round)
I love crypto, and think by analysing history we can try and guess what will come next.
Crypto is a story of subsequent bubbles.
One after the other, in a cycle perpetuated by a basic human emotion. **A desire to "make it"**
Crypto's evolution has brought about **simpler and simpler business models** (or money-making models), which attract entrepreneurs *and speculators,* progressively growing the pie for everyone.
1st bubble: Bitcoin **forks**. Fork the BTC codebase, add a premint, pump it on the few exchanges that existed, and leave with a bunch of extra BTC! 🤑🤑
2nd bubble: **ICOs**. Lower tech bar. Deploy a standard token contract, an ERC20 auction contract, prep some marketing materials, and raise a few Mil $ 🤑🤑
3rd bubble: **DeFi summer**. A new, finance-inspired PVP MMOG. More complex, more sophisticated (on the surface) but actually quite similar. Take some contracts, fork them, throw a tasty meme on top 🍣🍠🥩🥒🥞, pump your token on CT while slowly selling off through a pool1 / pool2 game. Profit 🤑🤑
4th bubble: **NFTs**. Here the technological bar was lowered even further. Suddenly anyone can build a brand, and sell it directly to consumers. No product whatsoever. Just sell of the brand in small pieces, each of them a somewhat unique JPEG 🖼
Lower tech barriers -> more entrepreneurs -> more distribution -> bigger userbase
Some will come to *make* money. Others will come and *lose* money.
We win by making those users stick around.
**By growing the pie** through every new boom-bust cycle.
By building for the *right reasons*, and with the *right values.*
What's going to fuel the next bubble?
Can there be a bubble where value creation is less concentrated?
What can we do so more people benefit, and growth is sustainable?
- GM Frens!
We're excited to be using Lens 🙌
We heard builders are building over here.
So we thought we'll join the fun!
- Over the weekend I had the pleasure of participating in #ETHIndia by @ETHGlobal and @devfolio 🇮🇳
As @Superfluid.lens wasn't sponsoring this time, I participated as a hacker.
The dream team 👇 (me, @adi26.lens @rashtrakoff.lens, @0xssdd.lens )
It's hard to describe the scale, but this was by far one of the largest hackathons I’ve seen in comparison to previous @ethglobal.lens events.
In numbers:
- 2000+ hackers
- 500+ projects
- $350,000 in prizes
It was incredible to see the
1000+ hackers not only hacking by day, but sleeping there on both nights.
But it wasn't only scale.
I've been to many hackathons this year.
#ETHIndia takes the crown in terms of how driven, passionate, hard-working & competitive the hackers were.
Can't say I've ever really seen anything like it.
And everyone was soooo kind!! 💚
I organised an impromptu pre-hackathon breakfast which attracted 40 people. We had Pudi Idli and talked web3 😎
So many passionate builders, entrepreneurs, developers & students. The energy was 🔥
No bear market vibes. Pure builder vibes.
twitter.com/FrancescoRenziA/status/1598371115189276672
I also had a chance to talk about Superfluid at an event we organized with our partners @coinshift.lens & @gnosisafe.lens 🙌
Good turnout & discussions after the talks. Great convos with folks from Coinshift & Biconomy
Finally met Tarun from Coinshift in person!

For the Hackathon, we built LensMaxi:
Premium content (with incentives!) for @LensProtocol
- Stream $USDC to creators on @lenster.lens
- @litprotocol.lens un-encrypts gated content
- Immediately get back a stream of social tokens
- Stake tokens and earn a % of the creator's income
Hacked with old & new frens ❤️
@0xSsdd & @rashtrakoff.lens (a @superfluid.lens ambassador!) worked on the smart contracts - split incoming streams, mint NFTs & social tokens & distribute rewards.
I & @adi26.lens worked on the front-end, building on @yoginth.lens's @lenster.lens
You can see our smart contract splitting the streams in action here:
https://console.superfluid.finance/mumbai/accounts/0xA289a400a7446B4ca1131487D7CDBf92475846B5
And check out the contracts in our repo:
https://github.com/Team-Rains/SuperLens-Contracts
Concise, powerful contracts for staking, stream splitting, and token issuance. GG @rashtrakoff.lens @0xssdd.lens 🔥🔥
Bullish on taking LensMaxi to prod, it can turn @lenster.lens into the main venue for premium content.
* 1-tx creator setup ✅
* 1-tx subscriptions 🌊
* Daily staking rewards 🤑
LensMaxi creates a positive feedback loop. Users pay for content, but profit from a creator's growth!
I'm getting more & more bullish on @lensprotocol, and Decentralized Social 🚀
If you have any ideas for @superfluid.lens integrations HMU...or just build it for our Wave Pool 🌊
For everyone at #ETHIndia, thank you for making it amazing, see you next year (or sooner💚)
