- Introducing Bonsai, an Optimistic L3 scaling solution, that will process transactions at hyper-scale, and is designed to support the next generation of web3 social users.
Available for Lens devs in closed beta today.
Data availability layers are utilized to prevent storing information on-chain. While content on Lens may include an on-chain transaction, the content data is linked to a data availability location, like Bonsai.
Bonsai serves as a scaling solution that processes Polygon transactions off-chain, achieving hyperscale and reducing costs. Unlike L2 solutions, Bonsai doesn't compress transactions into L1, it sends and stores them on a data availability layer.
The main challenge for decentralized social networks is to ensure that users have control over their content, while still being just as user-friendly as traditional social networks.
Bonsai makes the future of decentralized social possible.
We've worked relentlessly with the @bundlr-network.lens work and Arweave teams to ensure scalability by providing Data Availability (DA) guarantees, allowing the use of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-supported wallets to save DA logic and facilitating the rapid publishing of data.
Permissionless innovation is at the core of everything we do on Lens. As we approach one year on mainnet (still in beta), we have been blown away by the talent and passion in our dev community but we realize in order to scale to the masses, we need to build new solutions.
Bonsai is currently only being beta tested on @lensterxyz.
We look forward to seeing more applications roll out Bonsai.

- **The illusion of numbers by @danisnearby.lens and @luduvigo.lens**
Stop obsessing over the numbers on your social media account! They are just an abstraction of the impact you have on the community. Faking them means you don't care about who sees your content but just want to please yourself. Stats reflect how good your content is, so if you fake them, you won't get feedback on what you should change or improve. Sure, having a high number of followers might make your account look more legit, but it's a cheap trick. Instead, let's work towards creating meaningful conversations about the future. As early adopters and futurists, we should be focusing on building diverse communities where we can disagree and challenge each other. Don't fall into the trap of valuing fake numbers over real engagement and follow the below tips to take your account to next level

- I see too many people don't take any risk here.
There is a vast, underserved space, and people are not taking a chance at covering it here ✍️.
Create your content and publish it on Lens 🌿.
Are you worried that your content may be bad or not be seen? 🔮
1. Bad is better than fake 👊.
2. What is the difference with no published content if nobody sees your content? The difference is that you give yourself a chance 🤟.
3. To get luck, you need to create luck opportunities ⚡️.
Remember: I will always support the content of other creators, small creators in particular. If you want me to see it just tag @luduvigo 🚀🚀🚀
- Building a Custom Module with Lens Protocol from Scratch
Modules allow developers to program (and users to leverage) unique, custom functionality on follow, collect and reference (i.e. mirrors and comments). Thi opens the door to exciting new community-created features that greatly expand on the basic Lens Protocol social graph.
In this video, you'll learn how to build and deploy a custom module that only allows someone to follow another user if they know their secret code.
By the end of the video you should have a basic grasp of how custom modules work and how to start building and testing with them.

- How to run a Momoka Verifier
This video walks through how to run a Momoka Verifier on your local machine 👟
The Momoka Verifier enables you to operate a trustless verifier node that validates LENS DA publications in real-time.
It can also serve as an indexer, allowing you to stream and index the data yourself.
This open-source solution relies exclusively on software that you can run independently, without any dependency on LENS.
This ensures that even if LENS were to cease operation, you would retain access to your content, maintain proof of ownership, and continue to utilize it, all thanks to a decentralized data availability storage layer.

Tip #4: Start with a niche.
Try to cover only a few things. Understand what kind of content you want to create and start with it.
This will allow you to focus and make it easier for other accounts to associate you with a subject, content, or media.

- Nobody asked, but here’s my 2 MATIC (with a 20% referral fee) on the evolution of online interactions:
There once was a time when the “like” (👍) was the be-all and end-all in terms of measuring content effectiveness.
In the early days of social media, "likes" played a significant role in determining a post's popularity and reach. This was particularly true on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, where users could easily show their approval of a post by clicking the "like" button.
Likes were seen as ~thee~ measure of social validation. They also played a role in determining which content was promoted on a user's newsfeed or discover page, as posts with more likes were given priority 📈
However, in recent years, many social media platforms have started to de-emphasize likes as a measure of success. Some have even experimented with hiding like counts altogether in an effort to reduce the pressure on users to seek validation through likes and to promote more authentic engagement.
The goalposts of metrics are changing.
Vanity out. Value in.
Web2 platforms like Instagram and TikTok began treating content that had a high save to like ratio more favorably in terms of the algorithm 📱📊
And you know what’s better than a save (which is essentially a glorified bookmark)?
A collect. (Especially when it’s paid.)
This is the future of social media.
Even those on web2 social are catching on.
We’re no longer just interacting for the sake of interacting.
The possibility for more intentional responses encourages more intentional creation. And more intentional creation contributes to a value exchange that fosters a self-sustaining ecosystem ♻️
Here’s the desired hierarchy specific to #Lens:
#Collect - I need to own it
#Mirror - I need others to see it
#Comment - I need to share my opinion about it
#Like - This resonates
Do you see how little the L compares to the MCC in terms of existence?
Now, not every piece of content we make is necessarily created for the sake of attracting a lot of engagement or for making a lot of money. And to an extent, likes will always matter to one degree or another because they help indicate how much said content resonates with one's audience 👥
But it’s interesting to see the role value plays and what value means when both creators and collectors can engage on social media in ways that have not been possible previously.
I’m excited to continue to explore this relationship on @lensprotocol and I’m grateful for everyone who’s here now on the journey 🥹
What kind of value are you hoping to bring to and receive from Lens?

- How to grow your Lens account (0 to 500 followers).
Tip #1: What works for big accounts doesn't work for you.
Simple like this.
How many of us are disappointed because what we produce is not noticed, while low-quality content by big accounts gets a lot of comments, likes, mirrors, and collects?
Life could be unfair, but not on this matter.
Big accounts have extensive attention because their content goes to a broader community by default.
A decent or even lousy post could be enough for them to get attention.
So, don't copy strategies from accounts with more visibility than yours. Understand that you are different.
