Post by @dragaan • Hey
Lens apps really need algorithms instead of having the biggest accounts mirroring their posts. It just implies that whatever needs be shown in front of you

this post will not get much engagement
Very valid point. I think we could have both but expand that curation to brands vs just individuals. Brands and collective vision plays a key role in discovery and exposure for artists, think Soulection or even Spotify fresh hits playlist spotlight. It’s an interesting thought experiment to consider what distributed and dynamic brand teams can do to empower artists. That’s my take!
More community curation tools and better discovery will help solve this over time, excited to experiment in ways that can support this
Give it time. Lens is only 1 year old. I’m sure the apps are working to improve their algos 🙌🏻
agree, but I doubt there is enough relevant data to do it great today. Valid content based recommendations is imo a very hard problem and requires a ton of quality data. If you do it today you might end up with a „gm“ an „airdrop hunter“ and a „spam“ cluster. ;-) It’s very hard to reach people on lens for new profiles but there are ways - like communities, being active, finding people talking about similar topics. I haven’t seen recommendations yet that are more helpful than following interesting profiles and get new content and people „recommended“ through their comments. From a revenue point of few I’m pretty sure that lens won’t be the platform to make a living short term. (only exception might be devs creating great apps on top of lens and are open to vc money) All those who have made it this far will be familiar with @datetime.lens already, so I don’t have to mention it and it’s approach towards content based recommendations :-).
We know but thanks for bringing it up! This will change soon™️ @nilesh.lens
Same thought.
Coming soon!
