Building companies/protocols takes time
Tesla was founded in 2003 = 20 years ago
SpaceX was founded in 2002 = 21 years ago
Ethereum was founded in 2013 =

- i believe that creating an impactful product or company typically takes at least a decade. while there are always outliers, but most of the successful companies and products we know were founded at least a decade ago.
here are a few more to add to the list:
uber (2009)
airbnb (2008)
whatsapp (2009)
square (2009)
slack (2009)
pinterest (2010)
dropbox (2007)
spotify (2006)
instagram (2010)
figma (2012)
cruise (2013)
doordash (2013)
one great example of patience is Cruise. they have been building driverless cars for a decade, and this year, for the first time, they started testing w/ real users in SF!
- Indeed, the establishment of the company and its related processes has been quite time-consuming until now. However, I believe that this duration will be reduced in the future due to the existing infrastructure and accumulated expertise. In my opinion, one of the main factors that led to the prolonged growth of such enterprises was the lack of advanced technology to adequately support them. Of course, we can't ignore the significant roles played by investment and investors in this regard; a smart project receiving investment from the right investor is a critical factor.
- The longer it takes to build, the more sustainable I believe
- And you have to keep in mind that Aave is still developing a lot.
V3 isn't that old, GHO needs to be released, Safety Module is getting a revamp and many more things to come. Probably another 4 years till you can say Aave is mature and "ready". Although we don't know what will happen, maybe v4? 👀
- Curious to see how this will change with open source and Web3 composability, in particular some apps built on Lens like Orb have reached great maturity and UX level in less than a year (with 3 builders only..). Of course still a long way to go and many areas unexplored (eg content moderation, drastically new feature set, context specific social graph and messaging, etc) - but I do believe things will move faster and with lower cost structure on the app level.
- Thanks for putting this into perspective. VC and tech twitter exacerbate and put pressure into shipping shitty products and making it seem like you have it all together!!
- true! wonder how it goes wen it comes to building Fries though
- Persistence is key!
- Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.
- Lens was founded in 2022 = 1 years ago
- It can also take a long time to build the right one. At age 65, Colonel Sanders began franchising his chicken business using his $105 monthly Social Security check.
- But it maybe more quickly in era of AI.
- Well said sir
- Space X and Tesla are awesome and they are really show that America is really the land of opportunities.
- Honestly only thing in crypto is everyone relates building project to valuation or in terms of market cap while the real giants focus on vision they had first day.
- Amazon was founded in 1994 but recorded its first profitable year only in 2003
- True, but artificial intelligence and its combination with blockchain technology will change the rules of the game
- Time-based Proof of Work!
- keep building !
- Exactly, especially when you're building something solid.
You need to build the right way. You need to be patient.
- It's sad alot of us wanna plant and harvest under a couple years
- It takes time indeed, but it is all worth it in the end
- So true.
- Yes. So true.
- Success only comes before work when you look it up in the dictionary!!!
- yes, true
- Lens just born and awesome already👀
- So, all we have to do is be here and be patient!
- Aave isso the futuro #WAGMI
